WASSCE Grades Reinterpreted; D7 Is A FAIL!

For the 2015/2016 academic year, the University of Ghana with information from the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) has reinterpreted the various grades attained by prospective students of the University applying with their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

The reinterpretation sees grade D7 spelt out clearly as a FAIL and for that matter a basis for the disqualification for any applicant who obtains the mark in either of their Core subjects (English, Maths, Science or Social Studies) or any of the three elective subjects related to the course the prospective students wishes to pursue in the university.

Currently, the University accept persons with grades A1-C6 but with total grade points not more than 24.

There has been a long controversy over the interpretation of ‘D7’ with some arguing that it was ‘Credit’ and could grant a prospective candidate admission to pursue tertiary education especially in Ghana’s public Universities.
