ADU GYAMFI SHS STORMS PREMPEH COLLEGE ON TUESDAY; PROFILE OF THE BEST SOCCER SIDE IN ASHANTI

With two match days to complete the qualifying round of the ongoing Ashanti regional Inter-Schools and Colleges Soccer Competition, the multi-dollar question is ‘will the four times Champions Adu Gyamfi SHS and last year finalist Collins Commercial qualify or join the tall list of high profile casualties.

Adu Gyamfi SHS has been the most consistent side in the competition in the last seven years having won the competition four times, reaching the finals five times and appearing in the semi-finals six times in the last seven years. Such unparalleled feat makes them such a daring and formidable force when it comes to soccer in the Ashanti Region. But with such high profile casualties like last year winners O’SECTEC, Kumasi High School, KNUST SHS, Barekese SHS among many others all failing to qualify to the round of 32, all eyes will be on Adu Gyamfi SHS as they take the center stage on Tuesday, 222nd November at Prempeh College.

Senior P.E. Tutors Atta Khalid Osei and Lawrence Atta Osei a.k.a Kalusha are confident that they will once again light up this year’s inter-schools soccer competition with exciting soccer display.

The return of experienced PE Tutor Micheal Opoku from Barekese will add more impetus to an already crack side which one the competition once in his three year absence. The trio won the competition three times before Micheal Opoku left for Barekese SHS. But the return of the Presiding Member of the Sekyere South District Assembly to his favourite Adu Gyamfi SHS may affect their fortunes positively.

In the last six years, Adu Gyamfi is yet to lose in open play apart from that quarter-final defeat to Prempeh College and this speaks volumes of the mentality and seriousness of the Jamasi based side.

Speaking to our editorial team and comparing his team of last year and this year, Kalusha indicated that he is confident in this current team than that of last year and with most of his players now in the final year of their education, he was confident of not only qualifying but annexing the trophy to celebrate the golden jubilee feat of Adu Gyamfi SHS which will be celebrated next year.

But perhaps Antoa SHS and Mankranso SHS may have other plans for the highly confident Adu Gyamfi side when these sides clash to bid for the sole ticket to the Baba Yara Stadium.

The side is yet to lose to any senior high school since they started building up to this qualifiers.

With talents like Olufinga, Alonso, Osei Capito, Tanko, Kofi, Koke, Ole, Bisa among a host of talents Adu Gyamfi will be the team to watch.

Exciting inter-positional silky eye-pleasing football made in Jamasi will be exhibited when the GIANTS of SCHOOL SOCCER in Ashanti takes their turn at Prempeh College on Tuesday.
