The scene was intriguing and highly tensed at the just ended ARSRC’s zone one ACME Quiz Preliminary competition held at Kwasi Oppong SHS, Kumasi as competing students restlessly waited for the final whistle of the Quiz Master to declare who eventually carried the day.
Adu Gyamfi SHS managed to overcome stiff competition from the likes of Prempeh College, Kumasi Girls, Osei Tutu SHS, Afua Kobi Girls, Aduman SHS among a host of schools to win the competition with 46 points amasses from four rounds of questioning in English Language, Social Studies, Multi-media and Current affairs.
Sixteen schools partook in the preliminary round in two batches of eight schools each. Adu Gyamfi SHS emerged overall champions in their set having overpowered schools like Osei Tutu SHS, Afua Kobi Ampem Girls SHS, Aduman SHS and the Host School, Kwasi Oppong SHS, whiles the other set featured schools like Prempeh College, St Michael’s Commercial SHS, Mansoman SHS, Kumasi Girls SHS and Mpasatia SHS.
The total accumulated points from both groups were used to determine the placement of the schools.
At the end of both sessions, the first four schools got the green light to compete in the final competition scheduled for February next year.
At the same time, the other three zones of the ARSRC competed keenly in similar areas to select their best four schools to represent in the final contest where the real deal will happen.
The following schools will thus compete with the Champions of the other zones in February, 2017 in the finals of the Acme Quiz Competition.
