The first 1/16th stage match of the ongoing Ashanti Regional inter-schools soccer competition came off today after the round of 32 between Kumasi Anglican SHS and Adventist SHS. It really was an entertaining match as the two sides exhibited their skills.
Kumasi Anglican Senior High School booked a quarter final date with Adu Gyamfi Senior High School this afternoon after 4:3 penalty victory over Bantama based Adventist SHS after a 1:1 game in regulation time. It was a match full of twists and turns as the two sides dominated play at various stages of the game. Adventist took the lead as Kass fought back strongly to equalise to take the game to penalty shootout.
Perhaps the most anticipated match of the day and the most unpredictable on the day was the 1/16th match involving soccer powerhouse Adu Gyamfi SHS and Osei Tutu SHS. Too close it was as Osei Tutu SHS pinned Adu Gyamfi to their half but failed to find the net. Adu Gyamfi also had moments in the game and tested the goal keeper of OT on some few occasions. A very well balanced game with periodic domination by each side to the excitement of soccer fans. In the end it took the lottery of penalties to settle the scores. An entertaining penalty it was as well as the two keepers produced brilliant saves with penalty howlas from the takers. In the end Adu Gyamfi booked a quarter final date with Kumasi Anglican Senior High School on Monday after a 4:3 penalty win over OT.
This means that Kumasi Anglican Senior High School will take on Adu Gyamfi Senior High School in the first quarter final match on Monday 5th December.
