The ongoing Ashanti Regional inter-schools soccer competition has suffered a serious set back following a decision by the Regional Sports Development Officer, Mr. Iddrisu to close down the sports stadium.
Huge numbers of people are gathered behind the stadium pending the outcome of a crucial meeting between the schools and colleges Sports Federation of the Ashanti Region and the Regional Sports Authorities.
The stadium authorities are demanding payment for some damaged seats at the stadium before allowing the use of the facilities.
Currently, the schools are all stranded behind the stadium clueless about what is happening and this increasingly creating uneasiness and tension.
The first match between Adu Gyamfi SHS and KASS was supposed to have kicked off long time paving way for the other matches. However with this unfortunate situation, it is unclear whether the four quarter final matches could happen today due to the hold up.
The Federation are also holding on to older debts and breakages amounting to over 120,000 Ghana cedis.
