The much anticipated collaboration between the Students Representative Councils of Kumasi Girls Senior High School and Opoku Ware Girls SHS seemed to be taking shape as the two schools seemed to have agreed on a common date after some initial hitch last term.
Reports indicate that authorities of the two schools have sanctioned 21st January as the new date for the students of their two schools to have a joint programme at the new auditorium of Kumasi Girls SHS paving way for preparations and arrangements for the programme. The earlier planned date clashed with the Regional SRC Students Week LG Preliminary Competition and warranted a relook of the earlier chosen date.
This joint ‘collabo’ follows the successful staging of the Prempeh College and Kumasi Wesley Girls High School last term which grossed some decent amount for the two SRCs to use to initiate local projects in the name of the SRC.
The new trend of boy-girls school collaboration is increasingly becoming a very useful avenue for raising money to undertake local SRC projects and although KUGISS and OWASS are yet to seek clearance from the Regional SRC office per the procedure for staging such programmes, the potential of the programme is clearly not in doubt.
Our correspondence at Kumasi Girls indicate that the girls are upbeat about the programme and are looking forward to it whilst the Opoku Ware Boys are also anticipating this joint programme and expected to flood KG on the 21st January, 2017 for this programme.
Meanwhile reports from Kumasi High School indicate that the the guys are monitoring this programme with keen interest and will also honour the invitation to see how their ‘girls’ will welcome the Opoku Ware guys.
Kumasi High School themselves staged a solo programme last term with huge patronage and have exhausted their slot as each school can stage only one program every year if it involves invitation to other schools on the SRC platform.
