ARSRC and GARSRC welcome the rebirth of Central Regional SRC

CENTRAL REGIONAL STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (CRSRC) REVAMPED*

The Regional Students’ Representative Council (RSRC), a bloc under the National Union of Ghana Students has inaugurated a Central Regional SRC that will champion the cause of Senior High School Students in the region.

This revamp was an initiative by the Local NUGS of the University of Cape Coast in collaboration with the leadership of the existing councils of the Greater Accra Region (GARSRC) and Ashanti Region (ARSRC).

The efforts of the above mentioned stakeholders was climaxed with a ceremony which officially marked the beginning of a new era for the CRSRC. The ceremony which was held on Friday 17th February, 2017 at Superannuation Hostel, UCC, was graced by the HRMD of the Education Office, Central Region who represented the Director of Education Mrs Juliette Ofami , Mr. William Kusi Yeboah(Head, Adisadel College), the Vice Dean of the University of Cape Coast representing the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University in the person of Dr. Eugene Darteh , the SRC President of UCC, Dennis Appiah Larbie, Mumuni Gbene Adams (President, GARSRC), Randolph Buabeng (Chairman, APEC-GAR), Samuel Nkansah (Administrator, GARSRC) and some past executives and coordinators of GARSRC and ARSRC.

At the event, the CRSRC was officially endorsed once again as a functional council after years of absence from the RSRC fraternity. Elections of executives was also conducted. The following students were elected as the interim Regional Executive body of the revamped council
*• Abraham Essel – Regional President (Edinaman S.H.S)*
*• Nabore Benjamin – Vice President (Academy of Christ the King)*
*• Pearl Kugblenu – Gen. Secretary (Kwegyir Aggrey S.H.S)*
*• Mantey Mercy – Dep. Secretary (Acad. of Christ the King)*
*• Papa Acquah Mensah – Trustee 1 (Edinaman S.H.S)*
*• Coleman John – Trustee 2 (Acad. of Christ the King)*
*• Asare Peter – Trustee 3 (Kwegyir Aggrey S.H.S)*

The headmaster of Adisadel College, in a speech at the event stated that the interim Regional Executive should not only do the former but also instill discipline in their colleague students ; he qualified the SRC as the legitimate mouthpiece to champion the cause of students. “The SRC is a necessary and important structure in institutions.”- He added

The Ashanti Regional SRC pledges it’s support to the sustenance of the CRSRC.
