The Principal of E.P College of Education (AMECO) Reverend Sylvanus K. Tettey has been handed a three-month suspension, for allowing the use of the school’s bus to cart firewood.
The decision to suspend Rev. Tettey without pay was reached following a meeting between him and officials of the Education Ministry on Friday.
The meeting was called after images of the bus loaded with logs flooded social media platforms last week.
The Eicher Bus with registration number GV 158-16, was one of the 500 buses presented to schools across the country in June 2016 by then President John Dramani Mahama.
But for some reason, the E.P College of Education at Amedzofe in the Volta Region decided to use its bus to car firewood for use by the school’s pantry.
The Principal of the school was hauled by the Education Ministry to explain the circumstances under which that happened.
A source told Myjoyonline.com that Rev. Tettey’s explanation was unconvincing, justifying the sanction on him.
AMECO is a mixed teacher training institution located at Amedzofe in the Ho West Municipality in the Volta Region.
