Osei Tutu and Simms Set the pace for Team Ashanti in NSMQ 2017

Osei Tutu and Simms Commercial Osei got Ashanti off to a flying start in the National Science and Maths Quiz with victories in their respectivecontests. Osei Tutu and. James Seminary SHS picked the first two slots at the one-eighth stage of the ongoing National Science & Maths Quiz.

The two schools won their respective competitions this morning to keep their hopes of winning NSMQ2017 alive.

In the first preliminary contest, Osei Tutu SHS dominated the five rounds of the competition to beat contenders Breman Asikuma SHS and Odorgonno SHS.

At the end of the contest, Osei Tutu scored 41 points whilst Breman Asikuma SHS and Odorgonno SHS gained 25 and 29 points respectively.

St. James Seminary SHS proved too strong for T.I Amass, Postin and Tamale Islamic SHS as the two schools trailed in all five rounds.

The losing schools will have their fate determined at the end of the preliminary stage to ascertain whether their scores are high enough for them to be part of the 18 highest scoring losing schools to qualify to the one-eighth stage of the competition.

Notre Dame Girls SHS is currently battling it out with New Juaben SHS and Kinbu SHTS in the 3rd Preliminary contest. The 4th contest featured St. John’s Grammar School, Simms SHS and Brekum Presby SHS.

Simms Commercial ammased the highest points build up of 47 points today as they overpowered St. Johns Grammar and Brekum Presby who secured 42 points and 32 points respectively.

The 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz is sponsored by the Ghana Education Service through the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and supported by Tigo, GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance, Accra College of Medicine and GCB Bank.
