The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council has commended authorities of Islamic SHS for a quick and measured response to the 13 students who recorded themselves twerking in the classroom to Patapaa’s one corner song. The video which has gone viral has attracted a lot of public response and interests. Authorities of the school has temporarily suspended the said 13 students while the disciplinary committee is looking into the issue to decide on the way forward. The Council believes this action taken by the school is in the right direction and entreats all students across the region to be careful with their conduct in the wake of such intensed media interest in the SHS level of our education. The Council is confident that the final decision taken by the authorities will be in the supreme interest of the students in question and the school as whole as they call on authorities not kill a fly with a sledge hammer. The appeal was made during an Orientation Exercise held for the Students Representative Council of the this great institution. The Orientation focused on equipping the students leaders of the school with the requisite knowledge to support school authorities. Officials of the Regional SRC schooled them on the concept of the SRC, student leadership skills and life coaching.

Citifm reported that Nine female and four males were seen in a viral video on social media dancing to the song by musician Patapaa, which has now turned in a feverish internet sensation.
The circulation of the video, which was shared via the students’ personal Facebook and Youtube pages caught the attention of the school authorities who brought up the issue before management.
In a report by Citifmonline.com, a meeting was called between the parents of the students and the school’s disciplinary board on Tuesday, where long deliberations were held.
Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ dance has taken the Ghanaian social sphere by storm, as the track has now turned into the newest internet trend since the ‘Follow the ladder Challenge.’
