Madam Margaret Dwomoh, 40, a Teacher of the Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, was on Thursday adjudged the National Best Teacher in Science and Mathematics in the Second Cycle Institutions Category, for this year’s Best Teacher Awards.
Madam Dwomoh, who is the daughter of Mr Rex Annan, the Acting General Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed her happiness for the feat.
She said there was nothing impossible in this world if one loved the chosen profession and, therefore, urged the up-and-coming teachers to develop the passion for the teaching profession.
Madam Dwomoh dedicated the award to the Head Teacher of the School, Mr Alexander Conduah, the School Management and the entire teaching staff for their moral support while preparing for the competition.
Mr Annan, the father, who shared his joy with the GNA, said his daughter deserved the award because of her passion to transform lives.
“Her feat shows that teaching of science and mathematics is not a preserve of males, but with dedication and passion you can achieve greater heights,” he said.
For her reward, she received a double-deck fridge, flat screen television, four-burner gas cooker and a certificate.
The Best Teacher Awards was instituted in 1995 to recognise and motivate dedicated and hardworking teachers across the country.
The 23rd Edition of the Award was held in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, on Thursday, October 5.
