The Elimination Contests of the Ashanti Regional Inter-schools Acme Quiz Competition began today at Prempeh College as 21 schools in Zone one battled for a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
It was a very competitive contest as the schools were grouped in three batches for three different contests in their bid to secure one of the four qualifying tickets available for the zone to the semi-finals.
The contest of four rounds in English Language, Social Studies, Current Affairs and audio-visuals of current affairs dubbed Multimedia will see average of one hundred schools compete for a place in the last 16.
Today’s competition saw 22 schools pitch their strength against each other in a very competitive contest. The Acme Quiz Contest is specifically designed to focus on English language, Social Studies and to encourage students to learn outside the scope of their core academic work and to make them abreast with contemporary issues in Ghana, the continent and the global world.
St. Hubert Seminary swept the audience out of their feet with a captivating performance after amassing the highest score for the day.
The Seminarians were a delight to watch as they aggregated 68 points for the day.
Armed Forces SHTS were also not left out after securing a total score of 66 pts to top contest one and qualify for the Semi-finals.
