The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council has initiated moves to calm the perceived rising tension between two member schools Prempeh College and Opoku Ware School ahead of the inter-schools soccer competition.
The move to bring the student leaders of the two schools together is to ensure harmonious relationship between the schools to auger well for healthy rivalry.
It will be recalled that some followers of the schools were purported to have clashed during the basketball final hosted by Opoku Ware School which led to some pockets of abuse which ultimately led to the rescheduling of the replay of the basketball final to Toase SHS.
The replay at Toase SHS was also not devoid of some pockets of attacks and abuse ad since then various information and exchanges has been flying around about possible clashes between the two top schools.
To avoid potential clash and exchanges between the two member schools, the Regional Co-ordinator of the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council, Raphael Sarkodie met the Local SRC Executives of the two schools on the sidelines of the Acme Quiz Competition being hosted by Prempeh College to have a frank discussion on the subject.
The Regional Co-ordinator used the opportunity to advice the student leaders to speak to their students to be focused on their core reason of being in school and avoid engaging in any unhealthy exchange or potential clash. He encouraged them to live up to their mantra of being model schools to all.
The two schools are likely to meet at the Baba Yara Stadium during the round of 32 matches for Ashanti Regional Inter-schools soccer competition from the 22nd of November.
The leadership assured the Co-ordinator that they will do their best to ensure that peace prevails between the two institutions and that the purported tension between them was not real.
The two rival schools have had healthy competition at all levels and that healthy rivalry drives them to excellence in all spheres of endeavors.
