Over one hundred schools participated in the qualifiers of the Ashanti Regional Inter-school soccer competition. Thirty-two schools qualified to the Baba Yara Stadium to compete in the round of 32.
After five days of competition, two teams have qualified to compete in the grand finale of the competition tomorrow at the Baba Yara Stadium.
T. I. Amass-Ksi will play Jamasi based Adu Gyamfi SHS in the finals of the competition following victories for the two sides today in their respective semi final matches.
T. I. Amass were too good for defending Champions KASS after dominating them and winning 2:1.
Amass-Ksi played above themselves and looked like an improved side against a lacklustre KASS side who found the going very tough today after taking an early lead. However, Amass fought back strongly and got the equalizer which built their momentum as they dominated KASS to the final whistle. They found the net in one of their moves with a teasing cross which was beautifully converted through an overhead kick to make it 2:1.
KASS played to suit the style of play of T. I Amass as they capitalized on their height and physique to outplay a very young KASS side.
Adu Gyamfi SHS played a match of their lives against a very well oiled Islamic side as they managed to win 1:0 to book a date with T. I. Amass-Ksi tomorrow.
It was a very balanced game against Islamic side who were hoping to build on their 2nd placed position last year. However Adu Gyamfi SHS proved to be tough customer as they matched them in all departments.
A hand ball in the box gifted Adu Gyamfi a penalty but the kick was beautifully saved by the outstanding goalkeeper of Islamic SHS who eventually won the best player of the match.
Adu Gyamfi creates a number of chances but failed to utilize them as they held on to the end to book a final ticket with Amass-Ksi.
KASS will therefore settle for a 3rd place match with Islamic SHS while Adu Gyamfi SHS will take on T. I. Amass-Ksi in the finals tomorrow from 1pm at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council congratulates T. I. Amass-Ksi and Adu Gyamfi SHS for their final feat.
