The President of the National Union of Ghana Students Elisha Oheneba Essumang and the Leadership of the Union together with the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council have expressed their sympathies and solidarity with Konongo Odumasi SHS for last night’s unfortunate fire incidence.
Fire gutted one of the Boy’s Dormitories on campus destroying some rooms with assets and belongings of the students last night.
The leadership of NUGS led by the President Elisha Oheneba Essumang has visited the school to have a first hand information of the situation and to assess how they can ease the pain of the affected students.
The student leadership conferred with the authorities of the school and had a briefing about how the incidence happened.
The Leadership of NUGS and the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council called on government, corporate institutions and donor agencies to come to the aid of the school in such challenging moments.
The timely intervention of fire officers from the National Fire Service brought the situation under control.
It is unclear what started the fire but the National Fire Service are investigating the incidence to ensure that the disaster will not reoccur.

Meanwhile the Essumang’s-led NUGS leadership has promised to support the affected students with some relief items.
The leadership has also appealed to various philanthropists and donors to come to the aid of this noble institution.
