Students of Serwaa Nyarko Ampem Girls SHS have hit the streets of Kumasi in a massive demonstration this morning.
The students and authorities of the staff of the school have been very concerned about the encroachment of their school lands by unauthorized persons which has limited any expansion efforts by the school.
The students were clad in red armed bands in and in their uniform walked through some principal streets to register their disdain to Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, the Regional Minister and city authorities about individuals who have encroached on their school lands.
Serwaa Nyarko SHS is sighted at Dichemso in Kumasi at a very limited land area which has limited any expansion drive. However this small piece of land is still attracting encroachers who gradually are taking over the lands.
In an effort to attract the attention of city authorities, management of the school sanctioned a peaceful demonstration this morning.
A particular encroacher who has located his huge container just at the entrance of the school and has simply refused to remove it irrespective of calls and appeals by the school.
A delegation from the students later presented a petition to the Regional Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council.
