The Ghana Education service has announced a 50% slash in the fees of final year students who are preparing for their wasce examination. In a release dated 29th March, 2018, the Director General of Ghana Education Service has directed all heads of institutions to cut the fees of final year students by 50%.
There has been many agitations by final year students across the country against heads of institutions in their bid to get them to reduce the school fees to reflect the number of days they will spend in school before finishing their final examinations.
Some schools have already issued out bills to their final year students indicating payment of full fees creating lots of hulabaloo about payment of fees across the country in senior high schools.
In order to settle the argument once and for all the director general of ghana education service has released a press statement indicating that final year students should not be charged more than 50% of their school fees.
The release however directed his to calculate for final year students who are likely to stay in school within the easter holidays in preparation for their final exams and add the additional amount to the 50% school fees.
