The initial fixtures of this year’s Ashanti Regional inter schools soccer competition have been released by the Schools and Colleges Sports Federation as preparations for this year’s competition commences.
It is expected that some private schools in good standing with the federation will be added to the various groups to complete the qualifying list of schools in each group. The various groups may therefore see addition of some other schools before the actual qualification begins.
The qualifications will kick off on the 12th of November with some selected venues earmarked for the exercise.
The 32 groups qualification groups will see each winner progressing into the last round of 32 slated for the Baba Yara Stadium on the first week of December.
The challenge for the federation will be how to tweak it’s rules and regulations in the face of the implementation of the double track education system where a track will be home or vacation during the competition.
The P.E Tutors are upbeat about how their rules will check them in the use of unqualified players with many suggesting that schools will take advantage of the track system and use unqualified players with the justification that they are part of the track on vacation.
However the federation is poised to seal all the loopholes to make way for a successful qualification exercise.
Defending champions Adu Gyamfi SHS will begin the quest for a 6th title against St Michael’s SHS and Denyasiman SHS.
Kumasi High will take on Ejuraman and Agona-Ashanti SDA.
OKESS will welcome Atwima Kwanwoma SHS and Westphalian SHS.
Osei Tutu SHS, Akropong will take on Dompoase SHS, Nkenkansu and Christ the King SHS for a ticket to the final.
Below are the full fixtures, date and venue of the exercise.
