High School Debate: OWASS beats KOSS to set up 1/4 Clash with Yagss

Opoku Ware School battled it out with Konongo Odumasi SHS in day 2 of the ongoing Luv FM / ARSRC High School Debate.

Speaking on the motion “The use of Mobile Phones in SHS should be encouraged “, Opoku Ware spoke in favour of the motion and articulated their points strongly.

Konongo Odumasi spoke against the motion. The Principal Speakers and supporting Speakers of both OWASS and KOSS were at each others throats disputing claims and enforcing various viewpoints.

In the end OWASS won the contest with 220 points with KOSS securing 211 points.

The evicted school Konongo Odumasi SHS took home a brand new water dispenser, exercise books, hampers, two thousand worth of airtime among others.

The first quarter final clash was revealed after the contest and will see Yaa Asantewaa Girls battle it out with Opoku Ware School.




It was battle of wits, oratory and intelligence as four schools battled it out in the maiden edition of the Luv fm/ARSRC Debate which came last Friday at the auditorium of Christian Service University College.

The first contest saw Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS narrowly beat Kumasi Girls SHS by 210 points to 197.

The debaters of the two schools spoke on the motion “the government is to be blamed for the collapse of banks in Ghana ”

Kumasi Girls spoke in favour of the motion with Yagss speaking against the motion.

In the end Yagss proved too strong for KUGISS as they advanced solid points to counter Yagss.

In the end Yagss won by a 13 point margin to qualify for the quarter finals.

The second contest saw Regional debate champions Akrofuom SHTS sort it out with St Louis SHS in another exciting contest on the motion “religion has retarded our development “.

With 228 points to 202 points St Louis managed to conquer Akrofuom SHTS in another very exciting contest.

The two losers took home brand new water dispensers, a big hamper, 100 exercise books and pens and many other Survenirs. Losers also will benefit from 2000 cedis worth of airtime.

The next contest is scheduled for Monday.
