1st Batch of Shortlist For 2019 ARSRC High School Excellence Awards Out: Check the List Out

The Annual ARSRC High School Excellence Awards shortlist has been released by the Awards Committee of the Council. The shortlist sets the tone for a very competitive selection process which will see the eventual winners honoured at this year’s Dinner and Awards Ceremony slated for the 1st of August, 2019 as part of activities marking the 22nd Annual Residential Congress.

The Awards Committee is made of 9 student members representative of the four zones of the Council with one APEC representative as Advisor and the Regional Coordinator of the Council.

The one hundred and thirty member schools of the Council were given opportunity to nominate themselves for various awards and after careful scrutiny, the Jason led Committee, advised by Afanu Emmanuel with Direction from Mr. Raphael Sarkodie, the Coordinator, has come out with the shortlist.

Local SRC President of the Year

The SRC Presidents of Kumasi Girls (Lordina Akwer), Richmond Agyemang of Osei Tutu SHS and Samuel Opoku Agyei of Kumasi Technical Institute will battle it out for the prestigious award in a one of the closely contested categories of Most Outstanding SRC President of the Year.

The SRC Patrons of Kumasi Academy Gabriel Agbezuke, Bernard Kwarteng of Adu Gyamfi SHS, Mabei Matthew of Parkoso Community SHS and Wahab Acquah of Fomena Amass will also compete for the bragging rights as the the Most Outstanding Patron of the year.

Sports Personality of the year

Abigail Gyamfi of Kumasi Girls, Abokyi Gawuga of Opoku Ware School, Richmond Asamoah of T. I. Amass,Kumasi and Patience Boahemaa of St Louis SHS will compete for the High School Sports Personality of the year. These athletes have distinguished themselves so well and will battle it out for the prestigious award.

Sports School of the year

Kumasi Girls SHS, Opoku Ware School, St Louis SHS and T. I. Amass Kumasi will go head to head as they compete for Most Outstanding Sports School of the year. The four schools have distinguished themselves excellently in various categories including, Soccer, athletics, hockey, Sprite Ball Championship, Volley, Table Tennis, Badminton etc through the academic year.

Edicom of the year

The SRC Editorial Committees of Opoku Ware School, Agona SDA SHS and Fomena T. I. Amass will lock horns in who gets crowned as the Best Edicom for the Academic year. This will be the maiden award in that category and the winner will go into history as the first ever winner of the newly introduced category.

Most Promising School of the year

Bodwesango SHS, Kwamang Presby SHTS and Banka Community SHS will compete for the most promising school of the year in another difficult category. The award is giving to an emerging force in the region to encourage the school to do more.

Most Disciplined School of the year

Kumasi Academy, T. I. Amass Girls, Adventist Girls and Afia Kobi Ampem Girls SHS will compete for the bragging rights as the most disciplined school of the Region in another exciting category. The Award is presented to a school that has demonstrated good behavior both in and out of school situations.

LG of the year

The Literary Group of Adu Gyamfi SHS, Barekese SHS, Bodwesango SHS and Anglican SHS will go head to head for the bragging rights as the best LG of the year. The four schools have distinguished themselves so well in Literary activities over the academic year.

SRC Event of the year

The SRC Event of the year is one of the new awards which is expected to be closely contested. Konongo Odumasi’s LOGAFEST 2019, KNUST’s Roll Call 2.0, Tepa SHS Artiste Night with Kwame Eugene, KUGISS’ 10th Anniversary Durbar and Mentorship Corner by Kwamang SHTS have been shortlisted for the SRC Event of the year.

The programmes were staged by the local SRCs of the schools as part of their Local SRC Week. Organization, packaging, content and structure will determine the winner.

The winners will be announced during the Dinner and Awards Night scheduled for Our Lady Of Grace SHS on the 1st of August, 2019
