Hundreds of Student Delegates Elects Owarean, Fiifi as 23rd Regional President for 2019/2020 Academic Year

It was massive endorsement for Opoku Ware’s own Obeng Bediako Fiifi as hundreds of delegates drawn from one hundred and twelve schools across the region voted to elect him a the 23rd Regional President of the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council.

Four candidates out of 29 contestants from twenty seven schools made the shortlist after a rigorous private vetting exercise co-chaired by Lawyer Benjamin Attakorah-Manu from the Attorney General’s Department (Sunyani) and Pastor Donneh Korsina of ICGC both of whom are former Regional SRC Coordinators.

The private vetting was followed by a Presidential Debate for the four aspirants from OWASS, KUMACA, KASS and St. Mary’s SHS, Konongo infront of the one thousand three hundred delegates at the Auditorium of Our Lady Of Grace SHS, Mamponteng.

Fiifi Obeng Bediako warmed himself into the hearts of the delegates with his responses to questions and charisma which ultimately culminated in his election as the 23rd Regional President of the ARSRC.

Fiifi Obeng Bediako succeeds Boakye Ohene Maxwell Angelo of KNUST SHS. Then presidency of the Council has eluded Opoku Ware school for some years now and it was refreshing to see the twelve delegates of OWASS celebrate this uncommon feat by Fiifi.

KUMACA’s Bernice Bonney placed second to pick the Vice President slot. She succeeds Priscilla Ahenkora also from the same institution as the 23rd Veep of the Regional Council.

Owusu Owiredu Jessey from Kumasi High School gets the opportunity to serve as the 23rd Regional Secretary of the ARSRC.

In all twenty six executives were elected into various positions by the 22nd Congress of the ARSRC to steer the affairs of the Council for the next academic year.

The executives will work under the guidance of Regional Coordinator, Mr. Raphael Sarkodie.

The Regional Council congratulates all executives elected and wishes them success in their tenure of office.
