Fireworks as 32 Schools Battle For Luv Fm/ARSRC High Sch Debate 2019 Trophy as T.I. Amass-Ksi Begin Title Defence: Timelines Outlined

Thirty two schools in Ashanti Region will battle for the coveted trophy in this year’s Luv Fm/ARSRC High School Debate set to begin in the third week of September. The battle for honour will see the eight quarter finalists in last year’s edition avoid the preliminary contests while 24 other schools will compete for 8 slots to join the seeded eight to complete the list of 16 schools that will go into the main contests.

This year’s edition will be the 2nd edition of the competition and is expected to be more exciting as new schools make their debut in the competition to prove their worth. 

The eight schools who have been seeded and will thus avoid the elimination round include defending Champions T. I. Amass Kumasi, Opoku Ware School, Armed Forces SHTS, Tepa SHS, KNUST SHS, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, St Louis SHS  and St Monica SHS.

The twenty four schools will be grouped into six groups of four schools. The winner in each group automatically qualify to the last 16. The two best loosing finalists in the 6 groups will join the six winners to make the pack of eight.

The Prelims will be staged at the Burges Hall of Opoku Ware School starting from 16th September through to 20th September. The Launch will be staged at the Kumasi City Mall on 27th September while the main contests takes off that very week.

The finals will be staged in the last week of October.

The new Writers and Debaters Society of the Ashanti Regional SRC will be the face of the debate with all schools expected to field the team members of the Group.

T. I. Amass Kumasi beat OWASS in the grand finale in last year’s edition to emerge as maiden champions.
