The Ultimate High School Quiz is set to kick off on the 26th of November, 2019 with over one hundred schools set to battle it out for 28 slots.
The four finalists last year have drawn by and will not participate in the Preliminary competition scheduled for Anglican SHS.
The schools have been put in four zones and will be competing in groups of eight for two automatic qualification slots from each group.
The twelve groups will produce 24 qualifiers with first two qualifying from each group. The top four losing schools with the highest point build up will then join the 24 automatic qualifiers to make 28. The 28 schools will be joined by the four schools on standby to make 32 schools that will go into the main contest scheduled for the the 3rd Week of January, 2020.
The Ultimate High School Quiz was previously won by Armed Forces SHTS with OWASS placing second while St Hubert Seminary placed 3rd. Fomena Amass picked the 4th slot. These four schools will not enter the preliminary round.
The Ultimate High School Quiz is an initiative of the ARSRC, Ultimate Fm and the Regional Education Directorate.
The contest is in four rounds of English Language (Grammar, Literary devices, spelling etc), Social Studies, General Knowledge (Current Affairs and History) and the last round of Audio-visuals which deals with graphics or visuals and audio or voice identification on historic matters, current affairs and things around us.
The quiz places emphasis on the Arts and is geared towards encouraging students to broaden their horizon, be observant around their immediate environment and learn outside the scope of their core syllabus.
