The upcoming Ashanti Regional Schools and Colleges Soccer competition has been postponed to next semester in view of the tussle between the Federation and the National Sports Authority. The Schools and Colleges Sports federation and the National Sports Authority are yet to reach a compromise over the payment of the facility which seemed to have delayed the Boy’s soccer competition, Authorities has decided that the competition be postponed to early next semester (next year). The Federation is hopeful that the problem would be solved amicably within this period. The specifically the competition might be staged in Mid January while the athletics competition will move to late February, 2020
The National Sports Authorityare demanding the sum of 20,000 Ghana Cedis for the use of the Stadium facility on daily basis, an amount the Federation consider quite outrageous.
The 32 schools competing in the round of 32 have been seriously preparing for the competition without knowing the exact starting date.
The Federation has now affirmed that competition will now move to next semester to join inter schools and colleges athletics competition which will make the semester a packed one.
It is expected that the soccer will be played earlier to give some distance between the two major competitions .
The National Sports Authority claims that they have proposed a sharing format to officials of GES on the gate proceeds which has been denied by the Regional Federation Head.
The NSA Boss has been holding on for an astronomical increase in the gate charges of the Stadium facility based on his personal observation of attendance at the Super Zonals.
A claim the Federation discounts as not a a fair reflection of other poorly attended competitions.
