Explosive Creative Piece: Black Lives Matter by Boakye Owusu Simon (Aduman SHS)

All lives can’t matter until black lives matter
“All lives matter” disregards systemic unjustness bedeviling the black community
“All lives matter” has been weaponised to quiet the weeps of the unheard resulting disunity
“All lives matter” swiftly terminates progress before it starts with calamity
To work toward fairness for all human, we must commence with advocacy for the most estranged

If you’re a Christian and can’t hear black lives matter without feeling the need to respond with a criticism that “all lives matter”, then crack open your Bible and hit up Luke 15
Don’t have it handy? Let me summarize to be familiarize

The are hundred sheep and one gets missing
Don’t you leave the ninety-nine and go after the lost sheep until you finds it?
Of course the ninety-nine still matter but they ‘re not the ones in danger
The one is!

A woman has ten silver coins and loses one
Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search until she finds it?
Certainly the nine still matter, but they ‘re not the ones at risk
The one is!
Saying black lives matter doesn’t mean that all lives don’t
It means black lives are at menace in ways others aren’t

Should it take years, months, weeks, and days to call ourselves anti-racists?
What was the cause when Martin Luther King Jnr. stood for the injustice meted out to the black community?
What didn’t happen to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela of his mindset to stop Whites attacking the Blacks
When…! When…!! When…!!! will black lives matter

It was in those days when civilization kicked us in the face but in these modern days why RACISM?
Racism is not about our feelings
Racism is not about our dealings
Racism is an interlocking system of oppression that is designed to promote and maintain White supremacy
The notion that White people including their bodies, aesthetics, beliefs, values, customs and culture are inherently superior to all other races must be a thing of the past

To the blank man, “Wait” has always meant “Never”
Understand that for generations, we have been to wait
Our grandparents were told to wait, our parents were told to wait and now we ‘re being told to wait
Like James Bladwin said, “we are tired of waiting for your so-called progress”
Until all lives matter I’ll forever say black lives matter
Let’s not forget, “different colours but one people”
