Obuasi Sec Tech Beats Aggrey Mem.,Prempeh, Mfantsipim to Win National Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge 2021

Obuasi Senior High Technical School is gradually establishing itself as the best technological, robotic, practical science and innovation senior high school in the whole country. The Asikafuo as they are affectionately called have added to their trophy cabinet another Trophy after being crowned winners of Primetime Ghana SciTec Innovation Challenge 2021.

Obuasi SHTS presented Automated sanitising station as their project and managed to convince the judges with their superior presentation and very revealing project.

The Sci-Tech Fair, previously one of the satellite events of the NSMQ, was held separately in 2021 as one of two events under a month-long event dubbed the STEM Festival.

Primetime Limited, producers of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), called for entries for participation in the 2021 edition of the Sci-Tech Fair, which was slated for June 29 & 30, 2021 in Accra.

The Sci-Tech Fair is a platform that provides an opportunity for students, both in the basic and second-cycle institutions, as well as Tech Start-ups, to apply their creativity, knowledge and understanding of concepts studied in the classroom in producing solutions that could help solve problems in Ghana.

The Fair started off in 2017 as an exhibition-only event, where over a hundred students and Tech Start-ups in Ghana have had the opportunity to display their ingenious innovations. The 2021 edition of the Sci-Tech Fair is seeing a new addition – the Sci-Tech Innovation Challenge – to make the two-day event more challenging and give the students extra mileage to explore their creativity and challenge themselves in the practical aspect of science and technology.

The Obuasi based school received Gh30,000. 00 as their prize package for winning the competition with Aggrey Memorial and Prempeh College placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

This is about the 3rd time this year that Obuasi SHTS is winning another robotic or innovation challenge.

The Old Students of the school and the Management of the school have been very supportive to the Team.

The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council congratulates Obuasi SHTS for making Ashanti Region proud together with Prempeh College.
